TTC Global has had a proud history of supporting New Zealand’s Technical User Community. On Wednesday 5th July we were at the SAP User Group’s Christchurch meet, which was held at the local Sudima Hotel. Along with attending the event, TTC was pleased to offer support to the event by being the event’s Lanyard Sponsor – a tradition we have had for some time now.

As with all User Group events, there was a good mix of both real-world user stories and the ‘what’s new’ from the vendor and service provider community <LINK TO AGENDA PDF>. For the latter, the practical adoption of AI within SAP was a focus, as was the value and benefit of Business Process Modelling (BPM). Both were themes through the day.

From the real-world user story angle, Foodstuffs South Island gave a great overview of their own journey with BPM – the efficiencies gained, and cost savings made. What was more impressive though was the story on how they developed their own team to deliver into this area, and the importance of recruiting people into the team (from other places within the business), that had a real desire to want to see things done better.

This was more than equalled by the two presentations from Fisher and Paykel Healthcare. Like Foodstuffs South Island, Fisher and Paykel are a major brand in New Zealand. As a manufacturer of products that are sold globally, Fisher and Paykel has the burden of ensuring that the particular regulatory and environmental needs of every individual overseas market is met – not only for their own product but for the 3rd party components and the raw materials that are included in their product as sold. For a process and regulation nerd like me, it was fascinating to see how complex their business needs around materials management, product certification, and declaration was, and how SAP helped Fisher and Paykel manage this complexity. As a testing consultancy – my mind immediately asked, how do you test this? And how do you test it efficiently?
