Innovation and technology are at the heart of everything we do at TTC Global, and I’m thrilled to introduce our new initiative, Test Lab: Innovation Research Series, a recurring blog series designed to showcase the bold experiments and cutting-edge research our teams are driving across the globe.

From AI-augmented quality engineering to next-gen automation frameworks, we’re exploring what’s possible and sharing it with the world.

Why Test Lab and Why Now?

At TTC Global, we’ve been experimenting with emerging technologies from the very beginning; innovation is embedded in our DNA. And over the past few years, we’ve explored everything from AI-augmented test automation to autonomous agents and novel testing frameworks.

But we’ve now reached an inflection point. The pace of advancement in AI, particularly in areas like generative models and agentic workflows, has accelerated dramatically. What once felt experimental is now becoming operational. We’re starting to see real, tangible use cases that deliver measurable value to testing and quality engineering.

Take, for example, our recent work with AI agents that can convert test frameworks from one programming language to another, or assist in generating test cases, identifying accessibility issues, and optimising test coverage. These aren’t just theoretical capabilities; they’re tools we’re actively trialling and refining in real-world contexts.

And yet the market is still saturated with AI hype, especially from tooling vendors. Our customers are asking more than ever:

“What’s real? What’s useful? What’s just noise?”

In a world flooded with AI hype, we believe it’s critical to cut through the noise. As consultants, our role is to guide our clients with clarity and confidence. That means showing what’s working, what’s not, and what’s coming next. One of the most effective ways to do that is by showcasing our own R&D transparently, practically, and honestly.

Through Test Lab, we’re opening up our innovation pipeline. We’re sharing what we’re testing, what we’re learning, and how it’s helping us (and our clients) deliver better, smarter, faster outcomes. We at TTC Global are not just about marketing buzzwords. We are all about real-world value.

What You’ll See

Each post in this series will spotlight a real experiment -- from proof-of-value initiatives to deep dives into how we’re applying AI in practical, measurable ways. We’ll share:

  • Observations on using AI agents for tasks (e.g. programming language conversion, test case generation, accessibility detection, etc.)
  • Insights into our AI-augmented testing workflows
  • Honest reflections on what worked, what didn’t, and what we learned
  • Stories from our community events, webinars, and client engagements

We’re committed to transparency -- not just showcasing success, but also sharing the lessons that come from trial and error.

Why This Matters

Sometimes when people get excited about new technology, everything starts to look like a potential use case. But not every AI-powered tool delivers on its promise. Our goal is to help our clients and peers navigate this landscape with confidence so that they can understand what’s truly useful, what’s emerging, and what still needs work.

We’re not just theorising. We’re testing, validating, and sharing our findings. Because innovation isn’t just about ideas. It’s about execution.

Thoughts from Thomas Hadorn, our Group CEO

“At TTC Global, innovation and thought leadership are at the core of the quality engineering services we provide. Our clients rely on us not only to assure software quality but to anticipate what’s next. The availability of Gen AI has opened an entirely new door for our industry and is redefining how we design, build and assure digital systems. Through Test Lab, we’re exploring these frontiers with curiosity and discipline, turning experimentation into practical solutions that lift quality, speed and trust across every transformation we support.”

From the Test Lab: Real Experiments, Real Insights

As part of our upcoming blog under the Test Lab: Innovation Research Series, you will see that we’ve been running bold experiments with Playwright MCP, GitHub Copilot, and Claude. One of my favourite moments? Watching our engineers race AI to build test scripts – and realising that while AI can spit out code in seconds, it still needs a human to make it meaningful.

In one experiment, we saw efficiency gains of up to 37% when using AI tools properly. But here’s the kicker: the AI-generated code often needed more review time than manual scripts. Why? Because small fixes are slower when you’re untangling machine logic.

That’s the kind of insight we’re sharing through Test Lab. Not just the shiny wins, but the gritty truths. Because innovation isn’t just about speed – it’s about learning what works, what doesn’t, and what’s worth doing again.
