With the COVID-19 impacting workplaces around the globe, employers and HRD New Zealand considered how the pandemic has shifted priorities for teams across the board over the past year. Though an undeniably difficult year, with noted increased mental health difficulties among New Zealand employees, some organizations still saw improvements and positive changes in areas such as employee engagement and flexibility in working arrangements.

In February 2021, HRD sent out a call for submissions for the Employer of Choice awards, where organizations of any size and within any industry could enter. All entries were evaluated and scored based on a multitude of factors, such as leadership, learning and development, wellbeing, flexibility, diversity and inclusion, work-life balance, and recruitment. According to HRD, the selected criteria represent core facets of HR and new challenges employers have been facing due to the pandemic. Additionally, qualitative and quantitative data were utilized during judging, such as employee survey results, average employee tenure, and turnover rate, to arrive at the final 21 companies designated as HRD’S 2021 Employers of Choice. TTC is honored and grateful to be one of the organizations receiving this year’s Employer of Choice award.
